NIRPC releases economic development strategy

The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission has released its 2025 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for a 30-day public comment period.

The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy serves as a plan for development within the NIRPC Economic Development District. The district includes Lake, Porter and La Porte counties.

An update to the strategy is required at least every five years to qualify for the Economic Development Administration’s Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance programs. NIRPC’s Economy & Place Committee worked with Purdue’s Center for Regional Development and other regional and local stakeholders to prepare the 2025 strategy.

The 2025 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is available for review here. The public comment period ends May 4.

NIRPC is the Metropolitan Planning Organization and Council of Governments for Lake, Porter and La Porte counties. NIRPC coordinates regional planning and programming for transportation, economic development and environmental policy.
