MERRILLVILLE – Northern Indiana Public Service Co. wants to begin a billing program that would allow its customers to request that part or all of their monthly electric use come from renewable energy.
The proposed Green Power Rate program would cost $0.002163 per kilowatt hour more than their typical monthly bill. NIPSCO said the additional cost would allow it to buy the renewable energy from wind, solar and other sources.
The plan has not yet been approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
