NIPSCO Employees Make Special Holiday Deliveries
NIPSCO employees make special holiday deliveries as the NIPSCO NiVETS (NiSource Veterans Employee Resource Group) delivered toys and NIPSCO’s holiday giving campaign wraps up.
Volunteers will be packing up hundreds of toys collected by NIPSCO and NiSource employees and delivering them to Toys for Tots organizations throughout NIPSCO’s service territory.
“All of our employees think that giving back to the community is one of the most important things we can do, “said Mike Nekola, manager of operations and NiVETS president. “And this is just another opportunity for us to come together and do so. The greatest reward, by far, is seeing the children smile.”
This year, NIPSCO’s Hope for the Holidays campaign resulted in more than $12,000 in monetary donations and hundreds of toys collected for local Toys for Tots organizations. Employee-led initiatives included food and toy drives, fund-raisers and candy sales—all aimed at helping families in need.
NiVETS empowers veterans and their supporters through education, partnerships and corporate stewardship to enhance their workplace and the communities in which they work, live and love. The goals of NiVets are to:
*Recruit, retain and develop NiSource employees who are veterans
*Build and enhance business and community relationships in the support of veterans and the issues facing them
*Leverage the talents and contributions of veterans to achieve/exceed NiSource’s business goals
*Participate in community service efforts focused on veterans’ issues that impact customers and the communities we serve
*Broaden the understanding and awareness of I&D efforts with a particular focus on veterans
*Raise awareness and employee pride regarding veteran-related issues
