NIPSCONIPSCO is accepting applications for its environmental action grant to support local nonprofit organizations with environmental initiatives.

Now in its fourth year, NIPSCO’s Environmental Action Grant provides funding for restoration and education projects throughout northern Indiana.

“Our grant helps to improve the quality of the environment through many creative ways that might not otherwise be funded,” said Jennifer Montague, vice president of NIPSCO communications and external affairs. “Whether it's environmental education, conservation and preservation, protecting endangered species, or beautifying neighborhoods, NIPSCO is passionate about supporting the efforts and organizations helping to make a positive difference in the communities where we work and live.”

Grants are available between $500 to $5,000 for organizations seeking funds for environmental restoration projects and education programs. Applications will be accepted through April 5 with grant awards announced the week of Earth Day, April 22.

Prior-year funding recipients included environmental groups, community groups, schools and other nonprofit organizations. In 2018, the NIPSCO Environmental Action Grant funded 15 projects, totaling $50,000.

Grant request should be made online at NIPSCO.com/Community. When submitting an application online, select the “Environmental Stewardship” option in the Area of Impact drop-down box on the application.
