NIPSCO is accepting applications for its environmental action grant to support nonprofit organizations with environmental initiatives.
The program is in its fifth year. NIPSCO’s Environmental Action Grant provides funding for restoration and education projects throughout northern Indiana.
“As part of our commitment to strengthen and support partnerships with organizations passionate about improving the quality of the environment, our Environmental Action Grant program is another way that NIPSCO helps fund environmental projects that otherwise might not happen,” said Jennifer Montague, vice president of NIPSCO communications and external affairs. “Together with our neighboring communities and conservation groups, we are striving to be a leader in the preservation, protection and restoration of critical habitats and are helping to make a positive difference in the places we all live and work.”
In 2019, the grant program funded 15 projects with a total of $50,000. Projects included habitat, shoreline, pond and wetland restoration, outdoor and environmental education and native seed planting.
Grants are available for between $500 and $5,000. Applications will be accepted through April 3 with grant awards announced the week of Earth Day, April 22.
