Katie Eaton has been named new president of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce.
Eaton, who most recently served as economic development manager with the Economic Development Corp. Michigan City, is a lifelong resident of the Michigan City area. She begins her new role with the chamber Nov. 13.
“Ms. Eaton’s background working with local businesses and in workforce and community development will be valuable experience in leading the chamber,” said Charlie Keene, chairman of the Michigan City chamber board of directors.
Eaton earned her under graduate degree and master’s degree in business administration from Purdue University Northwest. She also has served on various boards of directors in the Michigan City area and is a member of the Michigan City Rotary Club, the Indiana Economic Development Association and Women in Leadership La Porte County.
Eaton is a member of The Times Media Co.’s 2018 “20 Under 40” class and was recognized as an Influential Woman in Economic Development for 2018 by the Influential Women of Northwest Indiana Association.
Eaton succeeds Mary Jo Orlowski who had served in the role since January 2016 but resigned from the post in September.
