GARY – Methodist Hospitals has opened an inpatient Geriatric Behavioral Health Services program at its Northwest campus.
“We believe it is important for Methodist Hospitals to demonstrate its commitment to the mental and emotional health of the communities we serve by providing top quality behavioral health care to patients of all ages,” said Dr. Marcus Wigutow, medical director of the center.
The 14-bed unit will complement existing adult and adolescent inpatient behavioral health units and will provide treatment and services to people 55 and older.
“National statistics show that one in four older adults suffers from serious emotional difficulties related to aging. The launch of this program is one more example of our commitment to being the leader in specialty care in Northwest Indiana,” said Ian E. McFadden, president and CEO.
