Out of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Stephan Wanger created beauty and a new reason for the world to visit New Orleans. In months and then years, he has transformed tons of discarded Mardi Gras beds into breathtaking works of art that dazzle the throngs who populate his galleries and workshops.
Today, Wanger is setting his sights on Northwest Indiana with a plan to create a series of stunning pieces that will depict — and ultimately grace — the region. Learn about the three host communities – Crown Point, Gary and Valparaiso – as well as the myriad restaurants and community organizations partnering with the Methodist Hospital Foundation to bring this exciting project to the region.
Wanger’s visit is being hosted by The Methodist Hospitals Foundation. Executive Director Rob Hanrahan said he had heard of the artist’s work but wasn’t prepared for the phenomenal artworks he viewed when he met Wanger in New Orleans.
