LAPORTE – When Family Nurse Practitioner Kimberley Mendez received her Master’s of Science in Nursing with a family practice specialty, she started looking for a place to practice to fit her philosophy of what medicine should be. She found it in North Judson, where she will share office space with Dr. Curtis Bejes, as part of Indiana University Health LaPorte Hospital.

Goshen College, where I graduated, emphasizes a combination of traditional and holistic medicine and I felt comfortable when I found out that is the way Dr. Bejes practices too,” she said.

Mendez is a 1988 graduate of Plymouth High School, and she and husband, Javier, are the parents of a 15-year-old daughter. “Because my husband is from Mexico, I speak Spanish too and I look forward to seeing any Spanish-speaking residents in the area,” she said.

For the past five years, she worked as a trauma nurse in South Bend. She also is an accredited Sexual Assault Nurse. Mendez will begin her practice in North Judson in January.
