SOUTH BEND — Memorial Regional Cancer Center (MRCC), through the newly designated Memorial Cancer Research Center (MCRC), has joined the Mayo Clinic to provide national clinical trials for local cancer patients. These are the same trials offered at institutions such as Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dana Farber, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins and others. Physicians at both Memorial Hospital and The South Bend Clinic will be able to enroll patients in these trials.

This affiliation with Mayo Clinic allows Memorial and the South Bend Clinic to offer new options not available elsewhere within Michiana. This local access increases trial participation nationwide, which will result in quicker results, with the ultimate goal of finding better treatments and hopefully, someday a cure for cancer.

In addition, Memorial Cancer Research Center is the first center in the region to currently offer breast and prostate cancer vaccine clinical trials.
