SOUTH BEND – The board of directors of Memorial Hospital in South Bend have voted to approve the formation of a new company that will combine the operations of Memorial with Elkhart General Health System.
The agreement comes after years of collaboration between the two organizations.
The affiliation of Elkhart and Memorial will lead to the establishment of a new parent company which will be named and staff appointed in the coming months.
In a prepared statement, Memorial’s board called the affiliation “an exciting step toward a strong and vital future for locally governed medical care.”
