Franciscan Health St. Clare Health Clinic food pantry will be able to provide additional assistance through its food pantry thanks to a $1,500 donation from the Merrillville Rotary Club.

The Merrillville Rotary Club’s annually provides donations to those in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. This year, the club provided Strack & Van Til gift cards to the Franciscan clinic in Crown Point, which will use the gift cards to supplement donations to its food pantry to feed the families of patients during the holidays.

Mary Wright, Merrillville Rotary Club president, said this is the seventh year the organization has raised funds for clinic patients. The donations are raised through internal fundraisers by club members.

Rick Peltier, executive director of the Franciscan Health Foundation, said it is to important remember those less fortunate throughout the year but especially during the holidays.

“I am appreciative of the Merrillville Rotary Club’s loyal and impactful support of our Franciscan mission,” he said. “They make a difference in our community; they are game changers.”

The St. Clare Health Clinic, 1121 Indiana Ave. in Crown Point, provides affordable healthcare services to the community. It also stocks a pantry with food and hygiene products for anyone in need.
