GARY – Majestic Star Casino & Hotel in Gary has announced it will cut 80 jobs due to what it says are changes in its organization due to the economy.

The casino and hotel will have 1,344 employees after the changes.

In a prepared statement, the casino said economic softness in the region and seasonal fluctuations in business were responsible for the job cuts. Reductions included both union and non-union workers.

Cuts also were announced at Majestic Star’s casino in Tunica, Miss.
