LA PORTE — Local union carpenters of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) volunteered to lend a helping hand at the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter.

Earlier in this month, three IKORCC carpenters volunteered their skills to complete the Small Animal Shelter’s building addition and cat room renovation. In just four days, the carpenters gutted and remodeled the cat room by installing new fiberglass-reinforced panels on the walls, new ceilings, lights, new cabinetry and trim and a new window. “It’s an honor for us to be able to help a great local organization. Serving the community is at the heart of IKORCC, and it truly shows in the volunteer service of each of the carpenters who helped out with this project,” said Scott Cooley, IKORCC Senior Representative.
