HAMMOND – Leon’s Triathlon and Team Red, White, and Blue, an organization dedicated to supporting veterans and enriching their lives by connecting them with the community through social and physical activity, have partnered to put a focus on the mission of Team RWB. The hope for Leon’s Triathlon moving forward is that Team RWB’s message reaches veterans who will benefit from their organization.

“Their message is so critical, so powerful, of what Team Red White and Blue is doing in community. We have a national audience, I feel we’re obligated to get the message out there,” said Leon Wolek, founder of Leon’s Triathlon. Leon’s Triathlon is telecast on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and its affiliates nationwide to more than 21 million households.

Team RWB connects veterans recently returning home to their communities through team-oriented activities, social events and physical activities. According to Wolek, Team RWB not only connects the veterans with community, but creates a supportive network to allow veterans to collectively work through the experience of war together. Exercise has shown to be an effective tool for combating depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. Team RWB gives members a purpose by promoting team work and activity and involving them in events with a common goal and shared accomplishment.

“We’re honored to be in the position to get their message out and if we can save a life, how can you put a value on that,” said Wolek.

Leon’s Triathlon is scheduled for June 2 at Wolf Lake Memorial Park. Demo Day will be on June 1. For more information on Team RWB, visit www.teamrwb.org. For more information on Leon’s Triathlon, visit www.leonstriathlon.com.
