Legacy Foundation awards spring 2023 grants

The Legacy Foundation awarded $296,926 in grants to 23 organizations, according to a press release.

The awards were distributed through the foundation's Transform Lake County spring grant cycle. Grants are meant to benefit Lake County's nonprofits, neighborhoods and residents.

  • Paladin Inc.
  • Planting Possibilities

The Lake County Community Fund and multiple unrestricted funds at the Legacy Foundation support Transform Lake County grants. Other supporters include: U.S. Steel/city of Gary Indiana Charitable Fund, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Donor Advised Fund for programs and activities serving the residents of Gary. The Legacy Women’s Philanthropy Fund supports grants for Lake County women, children and families.

The community foundation for Lake County, which was founded in 1992, has awarded more than $50 million in grants and scholarships.
