LA PORTE – Winter WellnessLand returns to The Crossing at La Porte Hospital this year, offering photos with Santa in exchange for non-perishable food items, plus other holiday activities and treats. The event takes place from 4-6 p.m., Dec. 6 at The Crossing, 1203 Washington St., La Porte.
“We started this last year because our colleagues in Wellness Outreach were looking for a way to give back to the community during the holidays,” said Katie Saver, manager of Wellness Outreach for La Porte Hospital. “Santa agreed to donate his time – as he always does at the holidays – and this year we partnered with our friends at Ideas in Motion Media – LaPorteCountyLife.com to take the photos. Just bring a non-perishable food item that we can donate to a local food pantry, and come have fun!”
“It is a wonderful time of the year, and helping capture the moments with Santa for La Porte Hospital and the community is a great way to share good news, which we love to do,” said Chris Mahlmann, publisher and CEO of LaPorteCountyLife.com
New to the event this year are holiday movie shorts with popcorn – happening at 4:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 5:15 p.m. “This is a great way for kids to wind down after school or daycare,” Sarver said.
The event also includes information on how to beat stress at the holidays, some healthy holiday recipes, and information on wellness classes and membership at The Crossing.
To help keep the Santa line moving quickly, event organizers are asking that there be one photo only per family. Photos will be printed and mailed to families upon request, and families are also welcome to take their own.
