Kruggel Lawton CPAs will welcome three new partners and 11 professionals on June 1 when Cole Gavlas becomes its sixth location.

The Cole Gavlas accounting office in Portage, Michigan, will become Kruggel Lawton's second in Michigan.

Cole Gavlas partners Jeffrey Cole, Dan Gavlas and Jason Martin will bring the Kruggel Lawton team to 19 partners.

“Combining our two very talented teams will create new opportunities to serve the Portage/Kalamazoo area,” said Barry Hall, managing partner, in a press release. “Cole Gavlas has an outstanding reputation for excellent client service and quality of work, which will increase our depth and expertise across several service lines.”

Cole started his own practice in 1991 after 10 years at a national firm. Dan Gavlas joined him in 1999, and was promoted to partner two years later. Cole and Co. was renamed Cole Gavlas in 2009 when the firm moved to 2401 W. Centre Ave. in Portage, Michigan. Martin joined the leadership team in 2017.

“The partnership between our two firms feels very natural because our values, culture and approach to client service are so closely aligned,” Gavlas said. “This is a great opportunity not only for our team but for our clients, and I look forward to continuing to serve our communities together.”

The partnership will include services such as tax, business advisory and financial management.

Cole Gavlas has been a member of the BDO Alliance USA, a national organization of independently owned accounting, consulting and service firms, for 22 years.

Kruggel Lawton was founded in 1956, and has offices in South Bend, Elkhart, and Goshen; and St. Joseph, Michigan; and Knoxville, Tennessee.
