IU Health recognized for patient safety

LAPORTE – Indiana University Health LaPorte Hospital has earned an ‘A’ in patient safety by the nonprofit Leapfrog Group. Leapfrog is operated by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits.

Of 2,652 hospitals that received the Hospital Safety Score based on patient’s safety, only 729 received an ‘A’.

“Our goal is similar to Leapfrog’s goal – to give patients the vital information they need and deserve before entering a hospital,” said President and CEO G. Thor Thordarson. “We, too, hope people will use this score to talk with their doctor, make informed decisions about where to seek care and take the right precautions during a hospital stay.”
