Indiana’s jobless rate at 3.2% in September

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported the state’s unemployment rate in September was 3.2 percent.

Indiana’s jobless rate continues to run below the national figure.

The state’s jobless rate in September was 3.2%, which was lower than the national rate of 3.5% for the month, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The state’s labor force totaled 3,368,659 in September, which included 3,273,243 employed and 95,416 out of work, the state said.

Jobless rates in some metro areas across Northern Indiana showed a month-to-month improvement.

In the Goshen-Elkhart area, the jobless rate in September was 2.7%, down from 3% in August but up from 2.5% in September 2018.

In the Gary area, the jobless rate in September was 3.9%, down from 4.1% in August and down from 4.2% from September 2018.

The Michigan City-La Porte area jobless rate in September was 3.5%, down from 4% in August and down from the September 2018 jobless rate of 3.8%.

The South Bend-Mishawaka area jobless rate in September was 3.3%, down from 3.8% in August and unchanged from September 2018, which also recorded a 3.3% jobless rate.
