Indiana unemployment rate 3.2% for October

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported the state’s unemployment rate for October was 3.2%.

Indiana’s jobless rate in October was 3.2%, which is unchanged from September, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The state, citing Department of Labor statistics, said the state’s labor force in October totaled, 3,378,649 up from September’s total of 3,366,755. There were 3,277,266 employed Hoosiers in October and 101,383 unemployed.

In the Gary metro area, the jobless rate for October was 3.8%, which was down from 3.9% in September. The Gary area’s jobless rate in October 2018 was 4.3%

The Michigan City-La Porte area jobless rate in October was 3.5%, down from 3.6% in September and down from 4% in October 2018.

The Elkhart-Goshen area’s jobless rate in October was 2.8%, up from 2.7% in September. The Elkhart-Goshen area jobless rate in October 2018 also was 2.7%.

The South Bend-Mishawaka jobless rate in October was 3.4%, up from 3.3% in September, but down from 3.5% in October 2018.
