NEW YORK – Chief Executive magazine has come out with its rankings for the best and worst states for business and Indiana ranks fifth best in the country for business.

The annual survey of 650 CEOs looks at regulations, tax policies, workforce quality, educational resources, quality of living and infrastructure.

The top five states are Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Indiana. The five worst states are California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and Michigan.

“CEOs tell us that California seems to be doing everything possible to drive business from the state. Texas, by contract, has been welcoming companies and entrepreneurs, particularly in the high-tech arena,” said J.P. Donlon, editor-in-chief for the magazine.
