GARY – The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana in cooperation with NIPSCO will be hosting the Hope for the Holidays food distribution to help feed thousands of northwest Indiana families this holiday. The (second of two) distributions will be held on Saturday, December 20th (9:30am to 12:30pm) at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville.
The distribution begins at 9:30am and individuals are served on a first-come-first-serve basis. Residents need to bring proof of residency (I.D., rent receipt, utility bill, etc) and are encouraged to bring their own bags and boxes to carry their items.
Hope for the Holidays is supported through $20,000 in matching funds from NIPSCO. With the additional funding, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is able to provide needy families with additional meals this season. Individuals will receive protein, fruits, vegetables and grains at the distributions.
