Holcomb appoints Lake County Superior Court judge

Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed Rehana Adat-Lopez as a new Lake County Superior Court judge.

She will take over for Judge Diane Ross Boswell who died Oct. 19.   

Adat-Lopez has worked as the director and attorney for the Lake County CASA program, which assists in representing children in CHINS or termination of parental rights proceedings since 2013. She also serves as a team member for the Family Recovery Court.

Prior to her role with CASA, Adat-Lopez worked as an attorney for the Indiana Department of Child Services. She also worked as an attorney in private practice for other firms as well as a sole practitioner.

Adat-Lopez received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University and her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.    

The state said Adat-Lopez will be sworn in as a judge of the Lake County Superior Court at a later.
