VALPARAISO – Mark Heckler, president of Valparaiso University, has signed a six-year contract with the university that extends her term to June 20, 2017.

“The board fully supports the strategic plan and we believe that Mark provides the vision and discipline to move the university forward,” said Frederic k Kraegel, president of the VU Board of Regents.

Among programs Heckler has implemented is creating a network of satellite affiliations with Concordia University in New York and the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.

Heckler said VU is working on similar agreements with institutions in India as a way of delivering Valparaiso University’s programs nationwide.

Heckler has been president of VU since 2008.
