INDIANAPOLIS – Screenings at the Heartland Film Festival began Oct. 15 and one of the opening films was “Soul Thunder,” about how Conrad “Prof” Johnson turned a mediocre high school jazz band into a sensational award winning phenomenon at Kashmere High School in Texas.

The documentary was a tribute to a remarkable music teacher who changed the lives of high school students forever. Filmmaker Mark Landsman said the film is a testament that arts play a significant part in developing young peoples’ creativity.

The festival continues through Saturday, Oct. 23. For information on showings, visit www.HeartlandFilmFestival.org.

May Communications Group LLC, Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly, is a participating sponsor for the festival.
