SOUTH BEND – The Michiana Health Information Network has received full accreditation with the Health Information Exchange Accreditation Program.
During the review process, MHIN’s privacy and security procedures were examined along with its technical performance, business practices and organizational resources. In addition, its process of managing and transferring protected health information was reviewed.
“As the industry moves toward health information technology adoption and exchanges more and more patient information electronically, an organization using the right policies, procedures and safeguards is a critical element to ensuring that the highest levels of protection are in place for all associated business partners and customers,” said Lee Barrett, executive director of the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission.
