Hammond-based Alverno Laboratories expands agreement with Ibex

Hammond-based Alverno Laboratories expanded its agreement with Ibex Medical Analytics to further AI-powered cancer diagnostics for its 8 million patients in Indiana and Illinois.

Alverno, which provides diagnostic testing services, will make Ibex's solutions available to its pathologists in more than 30 hospitals.

“Alverno will expand the reach of Ibex’s AI technology across our network, providing the most innovative tools to our team of pathologists,” said Sam Terese, CEO & President of Alverno Laboratories, in a press release. “With an increasing demand for high-quality cancer testing, Alverno continues to invest in technology to support our growth while remaining focused on high quality patient care.”

Ibex’s Galen suite of solutions supports tasks such as reviewing breast, prostate and gastric biopsies.

“With over 100,000 new cancer cases expected in the Midwest region in 2023, Ibex is committed to advancing the implementation of AI in pathology to support the growing demand for quality diagnostics,” said Justin McCarthy, head of U.S. sales at Ibex Medical Analytics.

Alverno Laboratories is a joint venture between Franciscan Alliance and Ascension Illinois and operates 31 hospital laboratories, and serves more than 2,500 other health-related locations.
