INDIANAPOLIS – The 22nd Heartland Film Festival opened with the world premiere Gimme Shelter starring Vanessa Hudgens, as Apple. A troubled pregnant teen struggles for survival and acceptance. Based on a true story, Apples journey has a happy ending for a change. Vanessa was brilliant in this role as if was revealing a part of her life story. Most will recall Vanessa in her film role in High School Musical.
Other key cast members were Brendan Fraser, her biological father and James Earl Jones, the priest who helped to turn her life around. “This is a family film,” said producer, Ronald Krauss. His message is the importance of family and the since of belonging. This film is about how love and opening our hearts can transform us. This film changed my perception on teen pregnancy and the importance of helping those teens who need support. Especially those who are homeless.
The Heartland Film Festival continues now through Saturday, October 26th. Go to
