GARY — Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson delivered her third State of the City Address to a capacity crowd Feb. 19 at the Genesis Convention Center in downtown Gary.
Before taking the stage, a video was aired showcasing the administration’s highlights in 2013 including community clean-ups, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings and other community events. Freeman-Wilson then took the stage where she spent the next 45 minutes outlining the challenges and accomplishments of 2013 while laying out the work for 2014. In essence, her message was that Gary’s turnaround is a “team sport” that everyone must play.
