Manager Paige McNulty is leaving the Gary Community School Corp. after more than three years of leadership.

In a letter to the school community, McNulty said Mike Raisor will take on leadership of the school district as part of the MGT Consulting team.

“I started in February 2020, just weeks before the pandemic changed life as we knew it,” McNulty said in the letter. “I will leave this summer with our schools in a much stronger position academically, financially and operationally.”

McNulty helped pave the way for the district to become self-sufficient again after the state legislature passed a bill earlier in May to move it back to full school board control by July 2024. The state took over the district in 2017 and called on MGT to provide emergency manager services.

“With improved financial stability, a student-centered culture and positive academic momentum, Dr. McNulty has demonstrated tireless service during an incredibly complex and difficult period for educators and leaders,” said Eric Parish, executive vice president at MGT in a press release. “We welcome and have full confidence in the continued growth and improvement on behalf of students and the entire Gary community.”

McNulty's last day will be June 4, but she will help with the transition through the end of the month. She said she is transitioning to a new position in higher education but did not specify where.

Raisor has 27 years of experience as an educator.

“Mike and his team will pick up right where we left off and build on the momentum in Gary,” McNulty said.

The school district is hosting a series of K-12 enrollment fairs from noon to 6 p.m. June 1 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 2 at the Gary Area Career Center, 1800 E. 35th Ave.
