SOUTH BEND – The Farm Service Agency office serving St. Joseph County will close this fall. It is one of three offices in Indiana scheduled for elimination.

The FSA is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered 30 agriculture and conservation programs. The closing is due to budget cuts. Since last year, the agency has lost more than 1,200 positions nationwide.

The closings will leave Indiana with 75 offices. The responsibilities of the St. Joseph County office will be divided among neighboring offices, primarily in Plymouth and Marshall County.
