MICHIGAN CITY – A $1.3 million federal grant has been given to the LaPorte County Commissioners to develop property it owned on the south side of Michigan City.

The grant will provide water and sewer service to 120 acres being developed by Holladay Properties, which developed Ameriplex in Portage along with sites in Merrillville and South Bend.

The $30 million development in Michigan City includes the recently opened medical office by IU Health LaPorte Hospital. Future development includes other medical offices, hotels, restaurants and a fieldhouse to host sporting events.
