HAMMOND — Building an air conditioner, learning how airplanes fly, making and testing concrete, and gaining insights into how tall buildings are designed are in store for middle and high school students who participate in Purdue University Calumet’s Engineering Summer Camp July 21-25. Purdue Calumet and its Departments of Engineering are hosting the camp.
The camp will offer hands-on learning activities and experiences designed to help college bound students better understand the career field of engineering, including what engineers do. Through hands-on laboratory and classroom activities, camp enrollees will gain understanding about civil, electrical, mechanical and computer engineering—all offered as degree programs at Purdue Calumet.
The camp fee is $295. Other information is available by visiting http://webs.purduecal.edu/me/engineering-summer-program/ or contacting Purdue Calumet Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering Robert Rescot at Robert.Rescot@purduecal.edu or 219/989-3147. The application deadline is July 16.
