The Indiana Chamber of Commerce named Edward Jones the state's best place to work in the major companies category.

The 18th Best Places to Work in Indiana awards were revealed during an awards dinner May 10 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

The chamber honored 125 employers in four categories: small — 15 to 74 employees; medium — 75 to 249 employees; large — 250 to 999 employees; and major — 1,000-plus employees. The Workforce Research Group was in charge of the selection process.

South Bend-based Gibson earned second place on the medium companies list. Coming in third place in their categories were Merrillville-based Centier Bank in the large category, and CAPTRUST's Chesterton location for major companies.

“The theme of this year’s program was ‘A Kind of Magic,’ which captures the dynamic culture and experiences offered by all of these winning organizations,” says Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar in a press release. “Whether it’s workplace benefits, volunteerism, employee recognition programs or mental wellness initiatives, these employers consistently ‘wow’ their teams — and vice versa.”

Edward Jones, which has offices throughout the state, is a financial investment company. It is a Best Places to Work in Indiana Hall of Fame winner, which honors organizations that have maintained excellence throughout the program's history. Edward Jones is one of two companies that has been on the list all 18 years of the program. This year is its sixth time on the top of the major companies' list.

Centier Bank and Horseshoe Hammond casino also are Hall of Fame companies. Centier Bank has been listed 17 years straight.

“To receive this annual recognition by the Indiana Chamber based on our associates’ feedback is truly significant” Schrage said in a press release. “Investing in our associates' professional development and well-being is essential to delivering remarkable service. This has resulted in a workplace culture that encourages growth, collaboration and innovation.”
