GARY – Larry Brewer, founder of South Shore Dance Alliance, has been named an Innovator of the Month for May by the Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana. The Dance Alliance trains youngsters from 5 years old through high school in ballet.
Brewer created the alliance to give students at the Emerson School of the Performing Arts more time to practice. He is on staff at Emerson and does not take a salary for his work at the alliance.
Last fall, he went to New York to see four of his dancers perform, including one who is now a part of the Alvin Ailey Dance Company.
