On Thursday, November 3, Corvilla Inc. and Martin’s Supermarket partnered to host a
cooking class for Corvilla’s Direct Service Personnel. DSP’s work in the Corvilla supported living facilities, or group homes, on various shifts, 24-hours a day.
There are 28 residents across Corvilla’s four group homes throughout St. Joseph County.
DSP staff from all four homes were in attendance. The goal is to help the DSP staff to think
through their decisions in the grocery store by picking up smart healthy ingredients and back to the group home kitchen and interacting with our folks.
The full menu included Sweet Potato Hash, Baked Chicken, Garlic Parmesan Hasselback
Zucchini, and Vegan Pumpkin Pie with Ginger Whipped Topping. The meal was prepared and presented by Kristin St. Clair, Martin’s Supermarket Dietitian. Those in attendance were able to try all of the dishes prepared.
“We want the people we serve as well as our staff to be eating healthier meals. There
are plenty of recipes that our clients can participate in as well.” said Diana Dolde, Director of Public Relations at Corvilla. “It’s important to realize that some of our staff have never had this opportunity to train before. At Corvilla, we are committed to offering a diverse array of trainings to help our staff continue their growth, in turn that improves the lives of our folks.”
This program has potential for more classes with Martin’s Supermarket after the first of
the year and begin to invite clients to the classes as well. The class took place in the Martin’s Supermarket in Heritage Square in the Martin’s School of Cooking sponsored by KitchenAid.
