Colorectal Comedy Hour Takes Jab at Cancer

LA PORTE — Let’s face it. The butt has been the “butt” of some phenomenal jokes for decades. And so we present: The Colorectal Comedy Hour, featuring nationally-recognized comic Ryan Clauson. Because comedy is funny. Colon cancer isn’t.

In the spirit of laughter and health – and in recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month – Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital will present this unique event from 6-8 p.m., March 27 at The Moose Lodge, 925 Boyd Blvd., La Porte. This free event will bring 150 people in our community together for a live comedy show at The Moose Lodge, and offer up to $450 in savings for those at the event who sign up for a colonoscopy initial visit on the spot. Digestive care physician Seth Tatel, MD, will also present “Colonoscopy: The Worst Part is the Prep,” an easy overview of how colonoscopy saves lives. Those who are not able to attend can tune into the IU Health La Porte Hospital YouTube channel to see it streamed live.

“It’s simple: get ready to laugh. Then get ready to have your colonoscopy. Anyone who is 50 or older who hasn’t had a colonoscopy needs to see this show. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths, but it’s also one of the most preventable and curable cancers if caught early. Colonoscopy is the most effective way to do that. So we’re making it fun, easy to sign up for, and informative – all at once,” said Brendon Scott, manager of strategy and market development for IU Health La Porte and Starke hospitals.
