SOUTH BEND – Jill Scicchitano, the new general manager of the Century Center, has announced she is looking for new revenue streams for the 225,000-square-foot facility.
She has already announced that 12 more events are scheduled this year than one year ago. Century Center hosts more than 500 events a year.
In 2010, South Bend officials said Century Center lost $113,976, compared with a loss of $598,730 in 2009. Scicchitano said that because of the economy, all such centers across the country are having trouble booking events, but she remains optimistic that Century Center will be able to turn the corner soon.
Century Center is managed for the City of South Bend by Global Spectrum of Philadelphia. Pa.
