MERRILLVILLE — Members of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) built a drawbridge for the entrance of the American Heart Association Heart of Gold Gala. The annual gala, held this year at the Radisson Hotel in Merrillville, is the American Heart Association’s main fundraiser for advancing child pediatric cardiovascular research. Over 600 guests attended the event.

The American Heart Association has a long-standing relationship with the IKORCC, whose members graciously stepped forward and volunteered their skills to build a drawbridge reminiscent of that from a castle – complete with lanterns, chains and a “moat” – for the entrance to the gala. The drawbridge also served as a photo backdrop for guests and added a visually memorable aspect to the event.

In addition, the IKORCC sponsored the event with a monetary donation. Mike Kwiatkowski, IKORCC Senior Representative, commented, “The American Heart Association is a wonderful organization dedicated to building healthier lives for the people in our community, and we couldn’t be more honored to have contributed to the gala.”
