MISHAWAKA – Bayer HealthCare has announced the sale of its manufacturing plant in Mishawaka to Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics.

Bayer has 302 employees who manufacture diabetes care products for Siemens under a contract. That contract expires at the end of the year.

Siemens will take over the work in 2012 and said it plans to hire 132 workers, but those jobs depend on Siemens being able to reach an agreement with United Steelworkers Union Local 12273.
