Attend a Fall Open House at PNW

HAMMOND & WESTVILLE — High school students, their parents, prospective transfers and others interested in learning more about educational opportunities at Purdue University Northwest are invited to attend a fall open house at PNW Westville Campus Saturday, Oct. 15 and/or the Hammond Campus Saturday, Oct. 29.

Each open house begins at 9 a.m.—Westville Campus in the James B. Dworkin Student Services & Activities Complex, 1645 U.S. 421 and Hammond Campus in the Fitness & Recreation Center, 2320 173rd St.

Much to experience
Both open houses will offer a resource fair; campus tour; opportunities to meet with academic and financial aid representatives; information about student success support programs, Honors College, athletics and military veteran services. Snacks and lunch also will be served.

As approved earlier this year by the Higher Learning Commission, the former Purdue University Calumet in Hammond and Purdue University North Central in Westville have unified to become Purdue University Northwest (PNW), a comprehensive regional university within the Purdue University system. With more than 15,000 students and nearly 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, Purdue Northwest is Indiana’s fifth largest public university.

PNW students may pursue their Purdue baccalaureate degree at either the Hammond Campus or Westville Campus, or they may enroll in classes at both campuses.

Campus visit part of search process
“This open house is intended for all high school and transfer college students who are beginning or continuing the college search process,” PNW Interim Associate Director of Admissions Susan Giannini said. “This event also is designed to introduce prospective students and families to Purdue University Northwest and opportunities available at each PNW campus.”

She added that prospective students may complete and submit an admission application during either open house and receive an application fee waiver.

Early bird attendees may tour the University Village student housing facility at the Hammond Campus beginning at 8 a.m. A resource fair begins at 9 a.m. Subsequently, PNW academic colleges will offer departmental presentations and lab tours. Financial aid and Honors College information sessions follow.

The open house concludes with lunch, campus tours, and freshman and transfer student information sessions.
