HAMMOND – The Challenger Learning Center on the campus of Purdue University Calumet will host the Space Race 5K at 8 a.m. on July 29.
Part of the day’s activities will include participation by Col. Jerry Ross of Crown Point, a former NASA astronaut.
“We are very excited that he sees the value in our programs to come all the way from Texas to help support this even,” said Becky Manis, executive director of the Challenger Learning Center.
There also will be a space-themed costume contest, visits to the planetarium for a laser light show and activities for children.
