Financial relief approved for UnitedHealthcare customers

The Indiana Department of Insurance approved a request from UnitedHealthcare to provide financial relief through premium forgiveness credits to commercial fully insured individual and group health plan policyholders. The initiative does not apply to students, the state said.

The credits range between 5% and 10% for major medical plans and 50% for dental. The credit will be applied toward the May premium, the state said. Customers will see the credit on their July premium invoice and is not conditional on sale or renewal of coverage.

COVID-19 testing is now available to anyone at Midwest Express Clinic offices.

Midwest Express operates locations in Hammond, Munster, Schererville, Crown Point, Dyer and Merrillville.

Midwest Express Clinic previously only tested front-line workers, critical care, first responders and essential workers.

Patients must not show symptoms for a minimum of seven days for the antibody test. MEC recommends waiting for 14 days.

Anyone looking for a screening or visiting for any other reason are asked to check in online at midwestexpressclinic.com with an ID and insurance card. MEC accepts most health plans including  Medicare and Medicaid.

Meals on WheelsMeijer donates $5,000 to Meals on Wheels

Meijer recently pledged $5,000 to Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana. The gift was made at the request of the retailer’s Merrillville location.

“As a family business, Meijer is committed to strengthening the community we serve,” said Kythera Rusk, retail administrative assistant to Jeff Carrico, Merrillville store director. “Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana shares our value of treating others with dignity and respect.”

Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana delivers more than 1,200 meals daily to people in Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper, and Starke counties.
