Art Star Program Launched at Lubeznik Center for the Arts

Lubeznik Center for the Arts Education Director Janet Bloch launched a new way to engage youngsters in the arts with her “Art Star” Program on Monday, November 25th.   Children and teenagers up to 16 years old are encouraged to visit the Lubeznik Center and become an Art Star simply by filing out a worksheet, obtained at the front desk, about the current exhibit.  The worksheet encourages children to peruse the gallery and really take a look at what is in front of them, think about the subject matter in each piece, and answer a few questions about the art.   The questions on the worksheet help youngsters not only to think about shapes and colors in the work, but also to consider the stories the art is telling.  The goal of the program is to develop a new generation of museum goers by opening up discussion and interpretation outside of the galleries.

Admission is free for children participating in the Art Star program.  The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is located at 101 West 2nd Street in Michigan City, and the galleries are open Monday through Friday 10am – 5pm, and Saturday & Sunday 11am – 4pm.  Please contact Janet Bloch, Education Director, at 219.874.4900, or via email at jbloch@lubeznikcenter.org
