Apprenticeship contest set for Lake Station

LAKE STATION – The Chicago District Council of Ironworkers will host the 2012 Apprenticeship Competition Saturday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at the Ironworkers Local 395 Apprenticeship School.

“We are extremely proud to host this competition,” said Local 395 Business Manager Doug Strayer. “Competitions like these are what Local 395 is all about. It gives us a chance to embrace other local unions in healthy, energetic contests.”

The competition will bring together 11 different local unions, each of which will bring two competitors. Competition will be held in eight categories, from welding and burning to written questions to rod tying.

First and second place winners will go to the National Apprenticeship Competition in Indianapolis Sept. 20-23. For more information, call (219) 763-7900.
