We are excited to let you know that this year’s US Open is going to feature unique, historic railcars that the team from Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway has meticulously and lovingly restored just for this special event. The announcement is appended below. We thought this might make a great story to accompany coverage of the sports news.
This is a great local North Carolina story. The cars will be used to promote economic development in North Carolina as well as the industrial sites along the railroad. We’re parking the trains near the Pinehurst Clubhouse, overlooking the tournament driving range. This same location served as a train station for golfers and resort guests who traveled to Pinehurst in the early 1900’s.
