Annual garden expo in Crown Point

CROWN POINT – The 12th annual Pond Expo will be at the Lake County Fair Grounds April 27 and 28, with a special sneak peek viewing on April 26. The expo features exhibits on gardens, ponds, patios and educational seminars to inspire and educate outdoor enthusiasts.

During the two-day event, attendees will be able to stroll through the indoor showroom to see the newest of designs and products to enhance back yards and outdoor living space. Sixty vendors will be available throughout the Industrial Arts Building to offer information, pond and garden supplies as well as lighting, décor and fish.

Educational opportunities are also available at the expo and include a seminar presented by the Lake County Master Gardeners. In addition to covering various topics, the Master Gardeners will be giving away seed packets to the first 500 attendees on Saturday and Sunday.

Two rescue groups will be participating in the 2013 Pond Expo: American Greyhounds and Settlers Pond. American Greyhound is dedicated to finding homes for unwanted greyhounds. Settlers Pond is an animal shelter for zoo and wildlife animals. The rescue groups will be promoting upcoming fundraisers and events.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 27 and 28. The sneak peek will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5, with children under 15 free. Proceeds on Saturday and Sunday will help fund community service projects and scholarships; the sneak peek is $20, with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society.
