VALPARAISO – United Way of Porter County has announced that positions with AmeriCorps are available in Porter, LaPorte, Starke, Marshall and Lake counties.
Positions are available to tutor disadvantages, struggling and at-risk youth; help families achieve financial stability; help youth make career choices as an Encore Advisor; help facilitate after-school programs; help communities respond to disasters; and help non-profits build organizational capacity through volunteer recruitment and social media.
There are full-time positions (1,700 hours) and part-time (900 hours) available. Recipients will receive a modest living allowance. In addition, those who complete their term of service receive a Segal Education Award.
