Valparaiso University names vice president for finance and chief financial officer

Valparaiso University named Mark Volpatti new vice president for finance and chief financial officer.

His role is effective Jan. 10. Volpatti previously served as associate vice chancellor in the division of finance and administration with Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Volpatti brings nearly 20 years of experience in higher education financing to Valparaiso University.

“Mark brings considerable talent and experience to Valpo,” said José D. Padilla, president of Valparaiso University. “His creative approach to generating additional revenue sources at IUPUI will be a valuable asset to Valparaiso University. I’m excited to have him as part of my leadership team.”

Volpatti is a CPA and has held numerous leadership roles at IUPUI. He is on the board of directors of the Central Association of College and University Business Officers and is a member of the Indiana CPA Society. Volpatti holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and an doctorate in education leadership from Indiana University and has earned two master’s degrees.

“It is an honor and privilege to be selected as the next vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Valparaiso University,” Volpatti said. “For a 162-year-old institution, it is very forward thinking (and) Valpo’s mission for the freedom to pursue truth wherever it leads is the driving force that makes this institution excellent.”

Volpatti takes over for Susan Scroggins, the college’s senior vice president for finance, who is leaving the post. She worked for the university for 25 years.
